Nano Wrimo

Hey Guys:

I know it's been a while but I have been super busy... I know, it's no excuse to not write at least a few sentences.

As everyone knows, meaning the 43 people who have read my blog (hey one by one we'll get to the million) I am a writer on my spare time. I honestly wish I could be a writer all the time but we have to pay bills and I haven't pyblushed a book yet. God willing, someday soon.

Anyways, as a writer, I entered National Writing month, where one needs to write 50,000 words in 30 days. I have written 13,000 words so far and as of right now I should have written about 20,000, which means I am behind... I'm sure you're all wondering why am I writing to you instead of writing my novel. Well, I decided to give all of you a little excerpt of my novel so I can get your feedback. It would mean the world to me if you left me comments with your thoughts. So here goes, this excerpt is in no specific order.

"After a couple of failed attempts at catching I reel in a pretty big Perch and decide to call it a day. It has taken me over an hour to catch this stupid fish and the sun has already set. I am calculating I only have half an hour to make it home before I lose the light completely. I put everything away in my backpack and grab my rod so I can head home. I am walking around the edge of the town since Dad has always said to stay away from the center so I don’t run into the militia.

I turn a corner and start to notice that I’m being followed. Fishing in Egypt is extremely dangerous because if you get caught the men might take you and turn you into another one of their slaves. I decide to pick up the pace and see if I can lose them, I know I am being followed because of my fishing rod. I have no doubt that the men following me are militia men. I wonder why they haven’t gotten their guns out and stopped me. It occurs to me they might have been out taking a night off and probably left their guns at their headquarters. If I’m going to escape I need to do it fast. I want nothing more than to actually turn around and kick their ass in revenge of what they did to my family. If these men aren’t armed then they are completely useless. They are nothing but thugs and bullies, but if you take their guns away they are just a bunch of sissies. I turn a corner and throw my backpack on the floor, and I wait for them to turn the corner so I can kick their ass.

They turn the corner and I swing my rod in their direction and hit one of them in the eye. He yells at me and calls me by a very ugly name but I don’t give a crap, I am in the mood to kick some coward’s ass. The other man throws a punch in my direction but I block it and in return kick him in his stomach and he looks like all the air has left from his lungs. I decide to kick him in the face, my Dad always says you should always kick your opponent when they’re down, never give them the chance to get up. I grab the man’s hair and punch him in the face. His nose is bleeding and his eyes are half closed. I decide to move onto the next guy when I hear some men running up to where I’m standing. I cannot let them see me, so I decide to push the man toward the pavement. I grab my stuff and take off. As I am running I hear the men calling out to me to stop.

Thank God it has gotten dark, they will not fire at me and waste bullets unless they’re sure they can get me. I run fast, thanks to Hassan. We run every morning and are always racing to see who is the fastest. I hate losing, so I am the better runner of the two of us.

I am gaining some space from them when I turn on a corner and decide to go up to the roof of the building. I start climbing up a window and reach the top, now they can’t see me but they might be able to hear me, you never know what you might run into someone’s roof. I keep running and jumping from one building to the next, I hear the men behind me so I know I am no longer safe. These ones must work out if they are almost catching up to me, but I already know which side of town I am in. I have decided to go to the opposite side of where I live so when I lose them they go looking for me in the wrong place. I get to the end of one of the roofs and decide to jump down, it’s almost a ten feet high jump but I have to risk it. I’m pretty tall so I should be ok. I break the fall by rolling on the floor. I get up and I’m about to take off running again when a door opens.

“Follow me Sethos.” I don’t recognize the voice but I decide to go in. I know it’s a woman and I want to ask questions but I don’t have time. Who is she? And most importantly how does she know who I am? How did she know I would be coming through this alley? How did she know exactly when to open the door?

“Who-“ Before I can get the question out she cuts me off.

“Be quiet!” She says and even though it sounds like an order I know it’s not. Her voice is etched with concern and I know she wants me safe.

We stay in silence for several minutes. We hear people outside and the men running up and down but short of them opening every door and barging in, they’re gonna have to give up. About twenty minutes have passed and I am beginning to grow impatient.

“What were you going to ask before?” She asks me as she turns to walk into what seems like a long hallway.

Her voice sounded like music and honey and right now I know I need nothing more than to see her face.

“Who are you? How did you know to let me in? How did you know I wouldn’t be a danger to you?” I ask her, I had a million more questions. What was she doing alone in the middle of the night is another one, she could get hurt. I realized I was worried about a stranger. This wasn’t normal for me.

“Because you are not a danger to anyone Sethos.” She said as she turned to face me.

We had reached another side of the hallway where the moonlight got in through a window and I caught a glimpse of her face. I could tell she was beautiful but I couldn’t make out her features in detail.

“My name is Isis.” She said lowering her face when she realized I had been staring. “As to how did I know to let you in at that exact time? Well, let’s just say I have been waiting a very long time for this moment. I can’t tell you everything about myself tonight because we don’t have enough time. But don’t worry, we will see each other again.” She opened a door and motioned for me to get out. “Now, it’s time for you to go home.”

As she opened the door for me to get out, the light shone on her face and I could see her features perfectly. She was beautiful, she looked like a Goddess. She had a tanned complexion and her hair was ebony black and very long. She had thick bangs that reached all the way to her eyebrows. Her eyebrows were thick but arched and under them were hiding the most gorgeous eyes I had ever seen.

They were big and full of emotions, trust being the main one.  They were also as black as the impending night in front of us. They would have been disturbing if they didn’t exude kindness. She had a thin nose and full lips that were set in a straight line. She looked down at the floor and smiled shyly.

“Good Bye Sethos.” She said as she began to close the door. She had taken me out through another street and I knew the men were long gone.

“Wait!” I held the door and pushed it open. I couldn’t part from her yet.

She raised her eyes to mine in question.

“When will I see you again?” I asked, suddenly I needed to know that more than I needed to breathe and now I was beginning to get concerned about myself.

“Soon.” She smiled openly and I saw beautiful white teeth. Just like that she looked away and closed the door.

I stood there frozen. I didn’t know what had just happened. This had been by far the weirdest afternoon of all time. How did I go from fishing, to fighting militia men, to meeting the most beautiful girl in the world? Because there is no question in my mind that she was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen and I found it hard to believe that there would be anyone else in the Universe who could compare to her beauty.  As I started towards my house I couldn’t stop thinking about her eyes. Those penetrating eyes that made me feel like they could see into my soul. A soul as dark as her eyes. I needed to see her again and suddenly soon did not sound like it would come fast enough."

Hope you all like it. Now I should go back to continue writing my novel.

To all of you thank you for reading, now go do some witing and loving :-)
